Cybercrime is wreaking havoc on individuals and families across Canada, leaving victims in financial ruin, emotional despair, and often without hope of justice. Despite the growing prevalence of cybercrime, the resources and support available to victims remain alarmingly inadequate. That’s why Cybercrime Victim Services is taking the critical step of registering as a lobbying organization.
This move will allow us to engage directly with community leaders, policymakers, and members of Parliament to shed light on the devastating impact cybercrime has on Canadian citizens. From financial fraud to sextortion, these crimes leave victims not only financially depleted but also grappling with shame, mistrust, and long-term trauma.
By becoming a registered lobbying organization, we aim to:
Raise Awareness: Many Canadians are unaware of the widespread and damaging effects of cybercrime. We will work to ensure this issue is brought to the forefront of public and political discussions.
Push for Legislative Change: Current laws and enforcement strategies are not sufficient to address the complexity and scale of modern cybercrime. We will advocate for stronger protections, better resources for victims, and more robust penalties for offenders.
Secure Funding for Victim Support: Victims often face financial and emotional devastation without access to affordable or accessible support services. We will push for government funding to establish dedicated services that provide critical aid to those impacted by these crimes.
Collaborate with Law Enforcement and Organizations: Effective solutions require cooperation. We aim to strengthen relationships between victims, law enforcement, and policymakers to build a united front against cybercrime.
Cybercrime Victim Services is committed to giving victims a voice and ensuring their needs are not ignored. Registering as a lobbying organization is a significant step toward driving meaningful change and protecting Canadians from the growing threat of cybercrime.
Together, we can advocate for a safer future and ensure no victim is left to face this battle alone.
